A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all from Gunays Garden.
We have had a very busy year and 2010 is proving to be even busier. With many of our past guests having already confirmed their reservations we are filling up fast!
We have been working hard to continue to improve our lovely Gunays Garden and adding more little touches to make your stay with us even more enjoyable. We have had a bumper crop of olives and pomegranates and figs this year on which Tolga and Nur have worked their magic in preserving to make delicious delights for the restaurant. Our ever diligent Brian has been doing a sterling job of cultivating all our vegetables and fruit trees and we have a fabulous crop of spinach and beans as well as summer favourites on the way.
Our new elected ‘village head’ Muhtar Mustafa is very proud of the new bus he has purchased for the village which will now run a very regular service to our local Gemiller Beach and also the shorter mountain route to Fethiye. This service will be well received by locals and tourists alike and we congratulate Mustafa for his commitment to improving the services for Kaya Koy.
We are also very grateful to both the local management of TUI and Exclusive Escapes who were instrumental in campaigns to bring awareness to tourists and locals of the importance of keeping our beautiful village free of rubbish and litter.
The ongoing preservation of the ruins of the old Greek village is still very much a current issue in all our hearts and with some high profile attention from the ‘powers that be’ . We are expecting to receive a plan from the government outlining plans for the village in the Spring.
We are so pleased to be welcoming back our Yoga group in May. After such an enjoyable and successful week last year, this year is even more popular and we have made some adjustments to the garden area in order to provide an even more comfortable, peaceful and inspiring environment for this years group.
We are also over the moon to be hosting severall family groups and weddings, our own personal friends and past guests who have chosen Gunays Garden as the place to take their vows and share their most special day with their families and friends.
We have also now made our own apartment available for rental due to the exceptional demand for accommodation here at Gunays Garden. We will still be on-hand and living within a stones throw. Now our guests can enjoy the stunning views from the apartment during their stay here. Tolga is installing a new, more ergonomic kitchen in the restaurant, and loving every minute of the design and project management. To accompany the superb outside pizza and bread oven he built last year, a larger preparation area is required to enable him to produce the food that has become so famous and popular. No actual structural work is involved (thank goodness!) but some significant re-gigging is underway!
For the first year in 4 years we have closed Gunays Garden for the Christmas period! We are travelling to the UK for Christmas with the UK contingent of our ever growing family and friends!
Izel, the new addition to the Gunays Garden team will be travelling to the UK for the first time, at 13 months old we are sure she is going to enjoy the festivities! Ela her big sister, now 6, is of course, very excited as is her Mummy! Ela is enjoying her first year at ‘big school’ and is now reading and writing superbly well, enjoying folk dance, and correcting her English teacher! We are all so proud of her.
In the New Year we will continue some of the never ending maintenance and we will also try to take some time out to enjoy the beach and walks around the village with the girls and Jazz. Before we know it we will be welcoming our guests to Gunays Garden for the start of the 2010 season. Please have a look through the website at some of the up-dates, including the photo album, also our Facebook page which seems to have a healthy and ever increasing following. Check out the special rates for villas with cars that we have negotiated for our guests which I know represent the most outstanding and unbeatable value for money. Also, if you feel inclined, please pass on our web-site to your friends and family and help to ‘spread the word!’.
With our warmest wishes to you all for a superb 2010 and we look forward to seeing you here in the near future!
The Gunays Garden Team!
